Clean sandy beaches, safe swimming, views to the Isle of Wight, wheelchair access.



Where is it? Between Mudeford Quay and Friars Cliff, two miles east of Christchurch.

Local facilities and shops: Avon Beach Café and shop; deck chairs, canoes, and beach huts available for hire.

Great for the kids? Safe swimming and paddling. Play area and crab fishing at Mudeford Quay.

How far are the loos? Newly refurbished toilet block including disabled facilities.

Parking: Avon Beach has its own car park and there are council car parks at Avon Run Road and Mudeford Quay.

Public transport: Avon Beach is at the bottom of Bure Lane which is served by Wilts and Dorset half hourly services from Christchurch High Street.

How about pets? Dogs are banned between May and the end of September.

Other points of interest: Mudeford was a centre of the local smuggling industry in the 18th century and remains an active fishing port. Mudeford inshore lifeboat station is one of the busiest in the country.
