Friars Cliff Beach
Sand and shingle beach, safe swimming and uninterrupted views across Christchurch Bay to the Isle of Wight. Wheelchair access to the promenade at both eastern and western end. Beach huts available for hire.

Where is it? Between Christchurch and Highcliffe, signposted from the A337 Lymington Road.
Local facilities and shops: There is a café on the promenade.
Great for the kids? Safe swimming and paddling for all ages. Steamer Point at the eastern end is designated for watersports.
How far are the loos? There is a toilet block above the promenade. Disabled facilities are available beside the café on the promenade.
Parking: Nearest is located off Seaway Avenue or Southcliffe Road.
Public transport: Wilts and Dorset buses run half hourly from Christchurch High Street to Bure Lane which is just a short walk from Friars Cliff beach. The Wilts and Dorset routes 121 and 123 serving Mudeford, Friars Cliff and Highcliffe run half hourly from Christchurch High Street.
How about pets? From May 1 until September 30 dogs are not allowed on Friars Cliff Beach but are permitted on the promenade if they are on a lead.
Other points of interest:
At the top of the cliff is a monument to the experimental radar research station which was located at the Steamer Point clifftop. Some of the buildings now house a coastguard training school. The clifftop woodland is a nature reserve.
