PORTLAND’S Paralympic-class sailor Megan Pascoe gives a round up of last Saturday’s Round the Island Race
ROUND the Island was amazing. Thalia which I was sailing on, is a great boat of more than 100 years old.
“Apart from not finishing due to parking the boat on Ryde sands it was one of the nicest boats I have ever sailed.
“It was through Little Britain Challenge Cup that I met the owner David Aisher.
“Little Britain sponsor the British Paralympic Team but also sponsor some amazing charities including the Ellen McArthur Trust, Jubilee sailing trust and the Cirdian trust.
“As a Paralympic sailor I am honoured to be included among these charities that get disadvantaged people into sailing.
“Congratulations to Effusion, owned by Ricky Bruton of Weymouth Sailing Club for winning his class in the RTI.”
Pascoe added: “Next week it is the Sail for Gold regatta in Weymouth and Portland which should be a great re-match of the Delta Lloyd regatta only a few weeks earlier.
“This year has been great so far and I can’t wait to start racing again.”
