Pupils have been studying topics such as meteorology, physics, health and literature, as well as meeting competitors and watching the racing.

Ten youngsters from Montacute Special School in Poole and St Catherine’s Primary School in Wim-borne enjoyed special treatment when they celebrated National Para-lympic Day with Helena Lucas.

After an hour’s taster session on Poole Harbour with Rockley Water-sports, in conjunction with RYA Sailability and the 2.4mR World Championships, they quizzed Lucas on her career.
