BEACH huts at Alum Chine will be demolished and replaced as part of a revamp of the town’s seafront.
Annual council beach hut tenants are being asked to remove personal belongings from their huts, while some private hut tenants will have to move their huts to a new site along the seafront.
Bournemouth Council plans to erect brand new standard and larger ‘super huts’, which will be offered first to locally-registered tenants with the longest record of occupancy.
Councillor Lawrence Williams, cabinet member for tourism, said: “The existing huts have reached the end of their life after many years on the seafront and need to be replaced.
“Demand for beach huts at Alum Chine remains very high.
“The new ‘super huts’, which are identical to those previously built at Alum Chine opposite Vesuvio Restaurant, will be offered for sale on 25 year leases.”
