A TRAIN was delayed travelling through the New Forest this morning due to a cow on the line.
CrossCountry Trains tweeted a picture of the animal by the side of the tracks as the 9.45am Bournemouth to Manchester service made its way from Brockenhurst to Southampton train stations.
A spokesperson for CrossCountry Trains added that passengers on the service were delayed by just over 25 minutes due to the unexpected event.
Owen Johns, a spokesperson for Network Rail, said: "Owing to a cow that had wandered onto the tracks between Ashurst New Forest and Beaulieu Road stations this morning, we temporarily stopped services in the area for around 20 minutes so that we could remove the cow from the lines.
"I'd like to thank passengers for their patience while we dealt with the incident."
