LEGENDARY radio DJ from the 1960s, and one of the first performers on BBC Radio One DJ Emperor Rosko, stopped by Bournemouth on his week-long come back to broadcasting this week.

DJ Emperor Rosko, real name Mike Pasternak is from California, USA and is from a family of brilliant and creative showbiz stars.

Dorothy Darrel, Rosko’s mother was a dancer on the silver screen and his father Joe Pasternak is a legendary Hollywood producer so it’s only natural that Rosko would follow in their footsteps.

Rosko has mingled with the likes of Elvis Presley, Lucille Ball, Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder.

Rosko had previously performed in Bournemouth during the 1960’s and the 1970’s. Rosko launched Last Pirate FM week to commemorate Remember a Charity In Your Will Week 2017.

An alliance of 180 different charitable organisations are working with various legal entities to convince people to leave a charitable donation or gift in their will after they have taken care of their family and loved ones.

When asked how touring was going so far, all he said was, "chaos” followed by a beaming smile and adding:“It’s controlled chaos."

Rosko goes on to explain: “We leave a little bit of the unplanned to go everywhere, because if it’s too organized and planned, its stifles everything.”

He talked about his love for classic acts like The Rolling Stones and The Beatles but expressed his dislike for modern music.

“I’m in touch with it (new music) but I don’t like it, I don’t get the message, to me, most of the time it’s just complaining.”

Despite his perception of new music, Rosko would still pick Taylor Swift in a battle between Swift and Beyoncé.

Rosko admits he was initially hesitant to embark upon this tour: “I do a specialised form of radio and I didn’t want to ship all my equipment over but Wisebuddah, the company that organised this tour, said they would take care of it.

“We practised in London and we got the result you can see right now.”

Rosko adds: "The reason I'm doing this tour is to raise awareness and help people, who can complain about that?”

The main theme of Remember a Charity In Your Will Week 2017 has been the #HaveYourSay social movement where people explain what sort of world they would like to pass on to the next generation.

When Rosko was asked this question he chuckled and said: “Oh boy, now you’ve put your finger on a freaky one.

“I would like to leave it to a world that had no nuclear weapons, no hurricanes, no droughts, no heat waves, in a perfect world in which we unfortunately don’t live in.”
