DORCHESTER return to Dorset & Wilts One South action tomorrow and look to continue their unbeaten run.

The game at home against local rivals Swanage & Wareham will be a hard-fought and physical game for sure. Last season, Dorchester defeated the Swans’ second XV in the final game of their league campaign.

With Sam Jones and Alex Peel returning from injury, Dave Rawles returning to front-row duties after over 10 years away from the side and the ever-present Lee King and Adam Makepeace in fine form, the team looks a strong one.

Andrew McCreedy makes his first-team debut on the bench and Luc Scadden comes into the squad having just joined from Weymouth.

Coaches Ben Parker and Rich Bament both commented that the Vase win last Saturday “was a step in the right direction”.

Training this week has been excellent with good numbers and four new players joining the club.

Coach Parker said: “We are working on key points from the last game which need addressing but we are a very good team in open play and can create something from nothing.

“However, our basics are stopping us from from finishing the hard work.

“This is an area we must sort out so we are ready for stronger sides.”

“This weekend, we need to turn that frustration into a positive and we know the Swans will be tough opponents and this will be a very physical game.

“We need to dictate the game and turn the screw early to take a five-point win and remain top of the table.”

Other fixtures at Coburg Road this weekend see the first Friday evening games for the youth section, with the under-15s welcoming Weymouth.

On Sunday, the under-13s entertain Weymouth also while the under-7s through to under-12s and the girls’ teams are training.

The club welcome a new sponsor on board, Costa Coffee at Brewery Square on Copper Street, who will reward the first and second team man of the match with coffee and cake.
