DORCHESTER Town have moved to secure the signatures of Callum Rose and Aaron Rodriguez on loan deals.

The Magpies have signed teenage centre-back Rose from Plymouth Argyle on a month's loan, while extending winger Rodriguez's spell at the Avenue Stadium to Monday, January 1.

Rose, 18, is a former Aston Villa academy member and initially signed for the Pilgrims in January this year, appearing as an unused substitute for the 1-0 FA Cup third round replay loss to Liverpool two days later.

The defender then signed his first professional deal with the Pilgrims in July.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, has been rewarded for a strong showing during his initial month's loan with a further two-month extension after scoring four goals, including a hat-trick against Gosport.

But the signing of Rose boosts a defensive unit that has been depleted by the loss of Jordan Storey to Exeter City - the Grecians recalling the centre-back earlier this week.

Rose is the second new face to arrive at Dorchester this week after the signing of defender Mo Baghdadi, also on a month's loan.

Fellow defender Gabby Adelowo was named in the matchday squad as temporary cover in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Basingstoke Town.

Manager Steve Thompson now has three centre-halves to choose from for the visit of Basingstoke to the Avenue tomorrow (3pm) as the Magpies look to progress to the second qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.
