WEYMOUTH’S Charlie Vaughan is celebrating a fine end to the year with a third-placed finish at the Shenington Kart Club Championship.

Vaughan has had a superb year as in May he became the first ever Wessex champion and he secured second place in the National Kart Racing Association Championship and in the Two Counties Championship.

The pinnacle of his year was becoming Honda Cadet Champion for 2017 at Clay Pigeon Kart Club, the circuit where he has raced since the age of eight.

Vaughan said: “It means so much to me winning such a coveted championship.

“All I wanted this year was to be on the top step of the podium and it’s even more special being my local circuit.”

He added “I would like to thank my parents for their fantastic support this year and also Nick from New Body Fitness on the Granby for his training and encouragement.”

Charlie is now moving into faster karts and will be driving for a team based in Poole who will be looking to nurture him towards even more success.

He would like to race Ginetta sports cars in the next few years and his dream is to race at Le Mans in France.

In order to help him succeed he is seeking help from companies or individuals that would like to support and be part of his success story.
