THE council will be able to close roads and ban parking on a host of roads across Bournemouth and Poole on the busiest days this summer.

As part of the summer seafront traffic management for this year, the council has issued a temporary traffic order.

From May 4, the council will be able to enforce restrictions on roads ‘when it is anticipated that visitor numbers are such that associated traffic poses a danger to the public’.

When enacted, the flyover along Bath Road and Exeter Road will be closed, from the Bath Hill Roundabout to the BIC Roundabout.

Sea Road, from The Marina junction to Boscombe Pier Approach will also be closed.

Parking will not be allowed on nine roads in Bournemouth and Poole at any time, and vehicles will not be allowed to wait or unload/load at any time, except for authorised vehicles.

These roads are:

Bournemouth

  • Both sides of Beacon Road - from its junction with Priory Road to the West Cliff Promenade
  • Northern side of Russell Cotes Road - from its junction with Bath Road to the point at which it joins East Overcliff Drive
  • Northern side of East Overcliff Drive - from the point at which it joins Russell Cotes Road to the point at which it joins Manor Road
  • Northern side of The Marina - from its junction with Sea Road, to its junction with Michelgrove Road
  • Northern side of Boscombe Overcliff Drive - from its junction with Byron Road to the point at which it joins Southbourne Overcliff Drive
  • Northern side of Southbourne Overcliff Drive - from the point at which it joins Boscombe Overcliff Drive to its junction with Pinecliffe Avenue
  • Eastern side of St. John's Road - from its junction with Sea Road to its junction with Owls Road

Poole

  • Chaddesley Glen and Shore Road at their junctions with Haven Road - point closure to all southbound motor vehicles (except for buses, taxis and authorised vehicles)
  • Banks Road - No right turn from Banks Road into Sandbanks Car Park

Access to properties and for the emergency services will be maintained throughout.
