A MAN remains under investigation after a man ‘threatened to set himself on fire’ during a standoff with police officers.
The man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assault, affray and intentional strangulation following a “disturbance” in Poole town centre on April 5.
Meanwhile a woman known to him and also in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and escaping from lawful custody.
Proving an update on Thursday, April 18, Dorset Police said the pair are released on bail and under investigation while enquiries continue.

Footage seen by the Echo shows a man in Lagland Street standing next to a petrol canister surrounded by police officers.
After several minutes of shouting and negotiations, the police officers eventually pounced on the man to detain him.
Residents watched on from the balcony of a nearby block of flats in shock, as multiple emergency services vehicles surrounded the area.
Eventually the two were arrested and taken to the police station, but once there Dorset Police said two officers were assaulted in custody by the woman and she was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
