Visitors enjoy Bournemouth's new outdoor cinema

WELCOME to Bournemouth’s newest cinema, which has deckchairs for seats and no shortage of ice creams.

A giant screen has been installed in the Lower Gardens showing a mix of family films, Formula One action and live coverage from the Wimbledon tennis tournament.

Dozens of visitors enjoyed Toy Story, Shrek and The Italian Job during its first day and were full of praise for the initiative.

Julie Fisher, on holiday from Cheshire, said: “We think this is brilliant… There’s nothing like it where we are from. We’ve had a lovely time lazing around watching films.”

And her husband Gary said: “It’s great to find something to do that doesn’t cost anything. It’s a great idea.”

June 20, the screen was due to show The Italian Job in the morning, followed by British Grand Prix qualifying at 12noon, Toy Story at 3pm and Shrek at 4.45pm. June 21 sees Toy Story at 10.40am, the British Grand Prix at 12.10pm, Shrek at 3.50pm and The Italian Job at 5.45pm.

Wimbledon coverage will start from Monday, which is expected to attract large crowds.

Trying to answer the question in a slightly less rude way... There's this link which states what's on this weekend, followed by Wimbledon which is an all day event until July 5, which is also the last day of the screen. So I guess after Sunday it's Wimbledon only, unless that's rained off in which case I would imagine they'll just show BBC TGV.

I hope they've got a TV license for showing programmes to the public! Our at work costs a fortune as it's classed as a "commercial premises", even though there's never more than 4 people there at a time. Sky TV costs a bomb too.
