WEYMOUTH RESERVES 5

WAREHAM RANGERS 0

WEYMOUTH Reserves’ boss Bradley Asagba described his side’s Dorset Premier League win as “peculiar” after they dispatched Wareham Rangers 5-0 at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Despite braces from Adam Anstey and Sanchez Jansz-Baker as well as a goal from Conor Jevon, the manager felt his side didn’t’ play well as a collective.

He said: “Our performance was peculiar.

“In recent weeks, our results have been based on collectively good performances whereas this, especially in the first half, wasn’t and we had to rely on talented individuals.

“The first half wasn’t particularly great but, in the second half, we found another gear and it was a lot better.

“But even at times in the second half we looked slightly ragged.”

The Terras opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Jansz-Baker after good play from Lewis Clark.

The visitors frustrated their opposition for much of the first half as the hosts struggled to find their rhythm.

The teams went into the break with no more goals scored despite chances for both sides, but Weymouth struck 10 minutes after the interval to double their

lead.

A Terras’ corner was cleared but only as far as Anthony Carlile who found Anstey in the box and the defender made no mistake with his header.

The goal settled the home side down and Jansz-Baker was back among the goals 10 minutes later.

A cross from the right found the striker and he slotted home his second of the game.

Jevon then popped up with the Terras’ fourth in the 73rd minute with a composed turn and shot that found the top corner.

Anstey then rounded off the scoring with 10 minutes to go and his manager was full of praise for the defender.

“He has been excellent since the turn of the year, he’s physical and scores from set-pieces,” he explained.

“He’s a decisive player and he deserves the plaudits.

“But we’re not reliant on individuals and we get our wins through organisation.

“We were a bit disjointed but we still got a comfortable win even if we were a bit careless and it could have been a lot more.”

The Terras are back in action on Saturday when they visit Westland Sports looking to win their three remaining games and ensure a great finish to their campaign.
