THERE were awards galore at Weymouth Working Men’s Club as the Weymouth Sunday League held their annual presentation evening.

Snookes Stags, who won the

division by six points from

runners-up Famous Old Spa, picked up their league champions trophy.

In what was a stellar year for the Stags, they were also presented with the Len Mahoney Cup, in which they beat Dolphin in the final, despite Dolphin’s Clinton Coltart being awarded the man-of-the-match award in that game.

There was winning silverware on the night for the Spa however, as they celebrated scooping the Les Hallett Trophy, beating Finns in the final with Luke Hearn being named man of the match.

Finns did bag a heap of prizes on the night themselves.

They won the league’s six-a-side competition and the fair play award. Finns’ Sam Alvey was also awarded for making the most appearances in league and cup competitions this season, turning out 23 times.

Danny Andrews, who played for both Kings Arms and Dolphin throughout the campaign, was the league’s top scorer with 56 goals to his name.

At the other end of the field, Famous Old Spa’s Mike Dear was awarded the goalkeeper of the season accolade.

The George Eley Trophy was presented to The Gloucester with Craig Spann their man of the match in that contest. The runners-up in that competition were Junction Trojans.

Official Mark Sers was also named referee of the season by the league.
