PORTLAND United manager Gary Bailey feels he has an exciting squad at his disposal after bringing Jamie Beasley to Grove Corner from Bridport.

The winger was a big part of the Bees’ campaign last season and Bailey wants his new charge to show his worth for the Blues.

He said: “It’s an exciting prospect.

“Jamie has had some injuries but he’s fit at the moment so hopefully we can get a full pre-season out of him and if we do that we know what he can bring to us.

“It’s down to Jamie to come in and push on forward and I have no doubt that he has the ability to do that.

“He’s got a great left foot. He’s got quality and decent pace. He will add something to us. A fully-fit and focused Jamie Beasley is an asset to anyone so we will be working hard to do that.”

With the majority of last year’s squad already signed and with a couple of additions in the bag, Bailey is not panicking about his summer.

“We’re being patient because we can be. We have a nucleus of a squad already in place and it’s all about quality rather than quantity.”
