BALTI SPORTS 2

HAMWORTHY REC 1

BALTI boss Marco Nott insisted that his strike duo of Ricky Lane and Danny Andrews are on red-hot form at present.

Both Andrews and Lane got on the scoresheet as Balti came from behind to beat Hamworthy Recreation on Saturday and the manager was full of praise for his starting frontmen.

“The front two are really firing really,” he told Echosport.

“They hadn’t played together much in pre-season but they are clicking as a partnership.

“It’s really pleasing how they are working. It’s good having Danny back from suspension

“He works so hard up front and chases the defence down and Ricky is the experienced one. He knows where the goal is and has a lovely touch.

“They are certainly the real highlight for us at the moment.”

Playing into a strong wind in the first half at Weymouth College, Balti got off to a sloppy start and fell behind around 10 minutes in.

But the hosts were level 20 minutes later as Lane crossed for Andrews, who tapped home to make it 1-1 at the break.

And, looking to press with the wind at their backs following the interval, Balti got their reward with what proved to be the winner on the hour mark.

Lane struck home a first-time volley to seal three points and back-to-back wins for Balti. Rec did have a late chance having hit the post at the end.

Nott added: “They weren’t the same Ham Rec as last year but they were still a good side. It’s a big win and it was good for our confidence.”

Balti will be without Sammy Nichols for their trip to Blandford United tomorrow (6.30pm)
