SWANAGE TOWN & HERSTON 2

BALTI SPORTS 4

BALTI Sports manager Marco Nott hailed Ricky Lane and Danny Andrews as “the best strike-force in the Dorset Premier League” as the pair netted braces in their 4-2 away win over Swanage Town & Herston.

The victory saw the Weymouth-based side keep pace with league leaders Holt United.

Graeme Rose also scored a brace for the valiant Swans, but only after the visitors had taken a 4-0 lead.

Speaking about his frontmen, Nott said: “They are very good strikers and they compliment each other so well.

“Danny is quick and works tirelessly whilst Ricky has a great touch. He is capable of producing technically exquisite football.

“They’re without doubt the best strike-force in the DPL and they’re on fire at the moment.

“It’s remarkable.”

Despite the heroics from Balti’s front two, the away side had to fend off some early pressure from the hosts, who beat Bridport Reserves 2-0 in their last game.

However, the visitors found their feet as they took the lead from the penalty spot in the 20th minute.

Andrews was brought down following a mazy run into the box and his strike partner Lane lashed it home from 12 yards.

If his first goal was simple,

then his second was the complete opposite as he volleyed Balti

into a two-goal lead five minutes later.

A long ball was played up to Lane, and after spotting the goalkeeper off of his line, produced a stunning volley from 30 yards to lob the keeper and double his side’s advantage.

Andrews then made it three before half-time as the visitors started to run riot.

The interval didn’t do much to turn the tide as Nott’s men killed the game off in the 55th minute.

After a great move down the left from Jason Pearce and Ethan Devaney, Pearce found Andrews unmarked in the box, allowing the striker to net his second of the game.

Despite being four goals down, the hosts did not let up as they poached two goals before the final whistle.

Rose, Bridport’s tormentor last week, pulled one back in the 66th minute before adding another with five minutes to play.

Speaking about the opposition, Nott added: “It’s the toughest game we’ve had all season.

“They’re a fit side and they took us right through to the

end.”
