WEYMOUTH RESERVES 1

RINGWOOD TOWN 2

A BRACE from Lee Vint saw Ringwood Town earn a shock win over a tepid Weymouth Reserves side that struggled to get out of second gear on Wednesday night at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The visiting striker scored either side of the interval before the away side performed an effective rearguard for much of the second half.

Ashley Batchelor broke through to score in stoppage time, but that wasn’t enough for the Terras to gain anything from the game.

After the game, manager Bradley Asagba told Echosport: “I’m disappointed. I felt our desire and willingness to win wasn’t there.

“With the chances we created, we certainly deserved a draw at least, but we didn’t show enough ruthlessness and some individuals didn’t do enough to make a difference.”

After a quiet opening to the game where both sides had brief spells of possession, the Terras had an early setback as they conceded in the 10th minute.

A ball in from the right found an unmarked Vint, and he made no mistake, rifling in an effort that found the bottom corner.

The goal seemed to settle the hosts as they found some joy down the right with Edgar Zanin. His preferred move was to cut in on his left foot, but when he did this he ran into the compact away defence.

Conor Jevon has been in hot form of late and he had a good chance midway through the half. The ball fell to the striker inside the box and, after battling with a defender, he managed to get an effort on goal, but it went just wide.

Apart from a snap-shot from Dom Panesar-Dower, that’s as good as it got in a half that was deprived of much entertainment.

Twelve minutes into the second half, the visitors doubled their through a deflected shot from Vint.

Ollie Clayton was brought on to give the hosts some more impetus. He had two shots within minutes of coming on, but both were saved by Edmonds.

With their two-goal lead, Ringwood sat back and soaked up the pressure. Substitute Clayton had multiple chances, none of them were taken. He did set up the consolation goal, which was tapped in by Batchelor, but it was too little too late for the hosts as they fell to a 2-1 defeat.

They’re next game is tomorrow away to Tadley Calleva (3pm), who currently sit sixth in the standings.
