STREET 5

BRIDPORT 3

A CHRISTMAS cracker saw Bridport eventually succumb to defeat as they fell to a 5-3 loss at Street.

Bees’ boss Adam Fricker was happy with the attacking intent his side showed during the Boxing Day clash at the Tannery Ground but admitted “individual errors” cost hem defensively.

He told Echosport: “We were spot on with our thinking that, offensively Street are a really good team but defensively they are there to be got at and we proved it.

“Frustratingly, from our point of view, we were really poor defensively and I can’t hide from the fact that it was individual errors that cost us all five goals.”

The home side took the lead on 17 minutes when Dave O’Hare flicked the ball on to Steve Murray, who crashed the ball in at the near post.

Ed Butcher then levelled things up just three minutes later for the Bees, his free-kick deflected into the net to get the visitors off the mark.

Five minutes before the interval, Bridport were then ahead.

Louis Rutter found the top corner from 20 yards.

But in first-half stoppage time it was then 2-2. Murray teed up Lewis Waldy to level things up once again.

It was that man Murray who then put Street ahead at 3-2 as the contest ebbed and flowed, he hit a fierce snap-shot which found the net.

A header from Bridport’s Leigh Bailey then made it 3-3 but O’Hare and Dale Hunt netted again for the Cobbs to take the spoils, in a thrilling encounter for the neutral.

The Bees also lost Andy Martin in the opening minute of the clash with a dislocated shoulder.
