WEYMOUTH Reserves’ boss Bradley Asagba admitted his side are “going to be up against it” when they host in-form Christchurch at the Bob Lucas Stadium tomorrow (3pm), as they begin their schedule in 2017.

They face a Priory outfit that are unbeaten in their last 10 league outings, who sit fourth in Sydenhams Wessex One at present.

The Terras are currently 13th in the league pile, with 32 points from 24 games.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Ollie Cherrett’s men, Asagba, who was present to watch Christchurch in midweek at Ringwood Town, told Echosport: “First and foremost, we have to give a good account of ourselves and not worry about Christchurch and the problems they pose.

“When we play the higher teams in the league we have generally been the better team, to be honest.”

He added: “We are going to be up against it on Saturday in terms of players missing. It is going to be difficult.

“From my perspective, Christchurch before the start of the season were sort of touting themselves as league winners before a ball was kicked.

“Obviously you want to test yourself against the teams that claim to be one of the better ones in the league.”

One talent that could line up against the Terras this weekend comes through teenager Ash Pope, who has been described as a “young Marc Pugh” by Hurn Bridge boss Cherrett, having been with the club on work experience from AFC Bournemouth.

He also got the winner with a stunning 25-yard strike in stoppage time, during the 3-2 win over Ringwood on Tuesday.

Asagba added: “They have changed personnel a little bit since we played earlier in the season, but so have we.

“They have some good players and some players that can, individually, make things happen to change the course of the game.

“We need to worry about taking care of our own performances and take it from there.

“I didn’t really learn anything that I wasn’t already aware of (on Tuesday). It’s going to be an interesting game.”

Sanchez Jansz-Baker netted in a 2-1 defeat for the Terras when the sides last met back in August, Grant Cormack and Dave Wrixton were on target for Christchurch.

A win for the Terras could move them up to 12th spot.
