BLUES’ boss Gary Bailey is eager for his squad to get back in action when they host Verwood Town at Grove Corner this evening (7.45pm).

The island outfit have had their last two fixtures postponed with their home clash against Team Solent being called off due to a waterlogged pitch and another scheduled home fixture against Amesbury Town kyboshed, with the away side not able to raise a team.

Bailey was left highly frustrated by the latter of the two call-offs, and is hoping his side can keep their focus this evening.

“Having this unfortunate two-game blip has not come at a good time for us, so it’s important we maintain the momentum we have built up,” he told Echosport.

“There should be no problems with eagerness in the players.

“They should be raring to go and get stuck into it.”

Ross Doidge is once again unavailable for the Blues but Darren Watts, who was set to miss out at the weekend, is available to feature.

A hamstring injury to Lewis Clarke is expected to be monitored.

Commenting on bottom-side Verwood, Bailey insists he will not be taking the struggling Potters lightly.

He added: “They are fighting for their lives and we have to be wary of that.

“They are a club with a great Wessex League tradition and do not want to slip out the trap door at the bottom of the Premier Division.

“Any team with that amount of pressure on them is a dangerous proposition.

“It’s one that we will be taking very seriously and we will treat Verwood with the utmost respect for sure.”
