HALLEN 3

BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker admitted his side’s dismal run of form was “embarrassing” as they were stunned at home by lowly Hallen at St Mary’s Field.

A Mark Salter double put the Bees well in the box seat against the league strugglers and they were cruising going into the second half with a 2-0 lead.

But then it all turned sour for the hosts, as Hallen recorded just their fourth league win of the season.

A deflected free-kick put the visitors back in it at 2-1. Then Bridport’s Matt Condliffe saw red and, from the resulting free-kick, Hallen made it 2-2.

And, in the final stages, the visitors got the winner on the counter attack, as St Mary’s Field was left stunned as the Bees fell to their eighth league defeat in a row.

“Heads just dropped and we just collapsed,” said Fricker. “It’s just not acceptable. The minute they got back to 2-1 I thought ‘here we go’.

“I just said to the lads after the game I was lost for words. Individually, including myself, everyone needs to take stock of it and see where we go from here.

“We thought the game was won at half-time and didn’t come out in the second half. We almost downed tools basically.”

He added: “I am not used to being involved in teams that lose three or four games on the spin, certainly not eight.

“As much as I question the players at this time I question myself as well. You question what you are doing and what you can do.

“I take full responsibility and for that as well and I’m certainly not hiding from that. I am the manager.

“From my perspective, eight losses on the spin, as a manager and a team, is embarrassing.”

Asked if he was confident his side would turn things around, Fricker replied: “I don’t know.

“I believe in the players I have got but, at the moment, we aren’t doing it.”
