DORCHESTER Town boss Craig Laird didn’t pull any punches after his side’s 4-2 defeat to Redditch United, blaming individual errors for the first-half collapse.

The Magpies were 3-0 down within 25 minutes, and the boss said it simply wasn’t good enough.

He said: “We lost the game in the first half through poor defending and a poor performance.

“To concede four goals in the first half like we did was just criminal., I think the players were still celebrating from Monday night’s win, which is long gone.

“It wasn’t good enough at all.

“It’s a struggle when you’ve got a team with such inconsistency that you don’t know what performance you’re going to get from them.

They’ve shown what they can do because they did it against Hitchin, it’s just that they aren’t concentrating and it’s poor.”

Laird’s side could have pulled themselves closer to the Reds in the table, and he was disappointed his side couldn’t capitalise against a team who had previously not won in 10 games.

He said: “It was a big game, we could have gone three points closer to Redditch but now we’re nine points away. It was a massive game and I don’t think some of them understand the importance of that game.

“It’s not that they aren’t good enough, it’s more than they aren’t mentally tough enough and didn’t do their jobs properly.”
