CRANBORNE 2

DORCHESTER Sports got back to winning ways in emphatic style after securing an 11-2 victory over Cranborne in the Dorset Premier League.

It was the worst possible start for the hosts, who found themselves 2-0 down after just 10 minutes against the league’s basement club.

But Sports showed real character to score four goals, including a brace from Jamie Symes and an Ed Eastwick effort which put the hosts firmly in control at the half-time interval.

Sports got a fifth when Adam Symes crossed for Billy Brumble to tap in his first goal for the club on the hour, before they handed a DPL debut to Broadmayne’s Will Turland, who took just 10 minutes to complete a fine hat-trick.

Another goal for Eastwick, and efforts from Adam Symes and Brandon Heal wrapped up the victory and manager Ashley James was happy with the win.

He said: “It was a good result.

“It was just nice to get some smiles back on the players’ faces because we’ve been going through a bit of a patchy spell.

“We didn’t start very well and the last three or four weeks having been playing on our minds but we settled down and were dominant from then on.

“It was a big test to go 2-0 down against them, but the lads showed a lot of character to score the goals and come back. The last few weeks have been tough, so we’re pleased to get the win and we want to finish the season strongly now.”
