MILBORNE PORT 2

DORCHESTER SPORTS 3

A JAMIE Symes 90th minute free-kick was enough to win a thrilling game at Milborne Port for Sports in a game that had everything.

The visitors started slowly and the home side should have been in front but the woodwork on both occasions saved Sports early on.

However, things got worse for the away side on 15 minutes when a sloppy pass from keeper Sami Turner allowed a home striker to nip in but he was taken down by Dan Peart and the referee had no option but to show Peart a red card.

Sports regrouped but the home side’s pressure was too much and they deservedly lead from a 20-yard shot.

The county town side started to grow into the game and when a Symes shot was only parried into the feet of Jamie Rawlings he made no mistake from close range to make it 1-1 on 35 minutes.

Sports weren’t finished there as before the break they took the lead when Symes was pushed off the ball in the Milborne box and he scored from the resulting spot-kick.

Sports’ 10 men worked hard but on 72 minutes the pressure was again too much as a Lochrie foul led to Macaulay Biddle scoring a penalty.

Dorchester’s character then shone through as Symes was fouled on the edge of the box and the captain stepped up and struck home a free-kick to bag the three points.
