PORTLAND United boss Simon Browne feels that tomorrow’s Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division fixture with Petersfield Town (3pm) at Grove Corner presents his side with an “opportunity” for three points.

The Blues have amassed six points from six games but face a Petersfield side that have shipped 35 goals in six games, leaving Browne to admit the Rams are an “unknown quantity”.

He told Echosport: “They will be a bit of an unknown quantity. They have been in turmoil but they’ve brought a few players in. I’m not entirely sure who they will have playing for them.

“It’s an opportunity for us to get three points and get back in the winning habit really. Two defeats on the bounce has been difficult to take. I think we’re better than that but results have shown otherwise.

“I don’t want to keep saying that we should have won such and such a game and keep saying we should have put some points on the board.

“We could do better from where we are but Saturday will give us an opportunity to get some points on the board which we could do with.

“I think we were unfortunate in a couple of games and I don’t think we were particularly bad against Hamworthy. I’m just looking for us to get on the right side of a result on Saturday.”

Alex Halloran and Lewis Clarke will miss the trip to Hampshire through unavailability.
