PORTLAND United boss Simon Browne is sure that the Blues will “get it right” sooner rather than later as his side travels to face Alresford Town the Sydenham Wessex Premier Division tomorrow (3pm).

Browne’s men have not won since the opening day of the season, when a 6-1 win over Team Solent got them off to a flying start.

But Browne is “confident” he and his players can “turn it around” and arrest their current spell.

He told Echosport: “Across the squad there’s been that frustration that we’ve not won the games we should have done. We’re making silly mistakes to concede goals in games.

“I’m confident that we’ll get it right and turn it around. There’s a few of them that could do with a shot in the arm.”

Commenting on the trip to Alresford, Browne admitted it was a “tough place to go”.

“Alresford are a decent side and going up there is a fairly lengthy journey for us. It’s always been a tough place to go.

“I’m struggling to think of many victories I’ve had there as a player or manager. They’ve got a lively character in the dug-out but I’ll take him as I find him. I’m sure there will be a bit of banter.

“They’ve got through a sticky period last year but historically they have a decent side there,” he said.

Browne also revealed that Lewis Clarke, Alex Halloran and Sam Buckler are all in the reckoning for a place in the side after work commitment and illness issues.
