BRIDPORT assistant-manager Paddy Behan admits the Bees could be “very busy” later in the season after their FA Cup endeavours.
Boss Adam Fricker’s men face south Gloucestershire side Bitton in the Toolstation Western
Premier Division today (3pm) having dealt with a long
trip to Cadbury Heath in their FA Cup second qualifying round replay on Wednesday where they earned a 3-2 victory after extra time.
The Bees now face a daunting trip to St Albans City, from the Conference South, in the next round after Ed Butcher’s late winner.
And Behan is wary of there being a fixture pile-up for his players when the winter weather arrives later in the campaign.
He said: “Bridport’s pitch when the wet weather starts, it gets very wet. We could be very busy in the latter part of the season.
Ideally we don’t want to be playing Tuesday or Wednesday then Saturday, but the lads have put themselves there because of their performances.
“It’s down to me and Fricks then to change it up and keep the freshness. If we have to play three times a week, we just have to do it.”
Commenting on the trip to Bitton, Behan acknowledged that the Boyds have some “very, very experienced” players in their ranks.
He said: “It’s a long trip and they’ve got some very, very experienced players playing for them this season. I know they had a bit of a clubbing (4-0) against Street, but they’ve signed a lot of good quality players.
“It’s certainly not going to be easy up there, but we’ll give it our best shot. We won up there last season 2-1 with a thin squad but we’ll be a little bit stronger than we were last season.”
