ALLENDALE 2
CHICKERELL UNITED 2
CHICKERELL United fought back to draw 2-2 away at Allendale in the Dorset Senior League.
The home side initially took a two-goal lead into half-time but the Chickens responded in the second half and grabbed a point.
Allendale took the lead and from a ball into the box, it bounced and Allendale were able to get onto it and tap it into the goal.
The home side then doubled their lead when a move started with dispossessing the Chickens, before charging downfield and shooting past Ian Bickerstaff in the Chickerell goal.
After 57 minutes the Chickens had a goal disallowed for offside but eight minutes later Matt Stickland was put through on the right-hand side and fired it past the Allendale goalkeeper’s left.
After 75 minutes a move down the left-hand side saw the ball pulled back to Stickland who fired in.
Following the match, Chickerell manager Shaun Murphy said: “It’s a bit disappointing really, we needed a win to stay in the running for the league but a draw was better than a loss, I suppose.
“We were not at it in the first half at all. So 2-0 down at half-time, when you look at it that way 2-2 at the end is not really a bad result.”
Chickens: Bickerstaff, Collins, Miller, Rogers, Heath, Voss (Stewart 46), Etherington, Harvey, McCarthy (Dewey 46), Stickland, Welch.
