BRIDPORT assistant manager Paddy Behan accepts it will take some time for the Bees to be back to their best ahead of their Toolstation Western League Premier Division clash against Bradford Town tomorrow (3pm).

Bridport are set to be boosted by the return of Chris McGrath, Mark Salter and James Cox to the squad.

The Bees made a stellar start to their season with a 2-0 win against Chipping Sodbury Town thanks to late goals from McGrath and Cox.

Bradford Town meanwhile have had a mixed start to their season so far.

They began with a 2-0 win at home to Clevedon Town before suffering a 2-0 defeat away at Bitton, and they progressed through the FA Cup extra preliminary round thanks to a 5-2 win at home to Roman Glass St George.

Behan said: “We have always known that due to how disrupted our pre-season was that it was going to take us five or six games to get back in a rhythm of playing the sort of football we were playing last season.

“Certain players need to get fitness, Leighton Thomas played very well on Saturday and he missed the whole pre-season and then came back in and played two pre-season games.

“Leighton will get stronger and there are a few like Chris who is pretty much exactly the same, pretty much missed the whole pre-season.

“It has been a good start for us.

“I think in front of goal we are not firing on all cylinders but I think that is just a bit of rustiness.”
