A CORAL-JADE Haines hat-trick helped Tottenham Hotspur secure a 4-0 win over Yeovil Town Ladies at The Clayson Stadium in the Continental Cup.

It has been a tough cup campaign for Yeovil, who now sit bottom of Group One South which just one point from three matches.

And it was Sarah Wiltshire who came back to haunt her old club after just seven minutes when she slotted home on the break.

Things worsened when Renee Hector played in Haines who made no mistake with an excellent finish just after the 20-minute mark.

The deficit was nearly halved seven minutes later when Olivia Fergusson won the ball inside the box but she could not beat Chloe Morgan in the Spurs goal, who got down well to save.

Morgan continued to be in fine form and tipped away another great hit on the half hour from Fergusson as the Glovers looked to get back into the match.

However, nine minutes later and Yeovil had a huge mountain to climb. Haines took full advantage of another counter attack, which proved to be the Glovers’ undoing, to put the visitors three goals up at half-time.

Manager Lee Burch made two changes at the break, with Amy Goddard and new signing Shannon Albuery taking to the field.

It was a much improved second half and Yeovil were pushing for that elusive goal. Most notably, Annie Heatherson’s shot almost slipped past Morgan.

Albuery looked lively throughout the 45 minutes and looks a positive addition to the squad, but despite attacking intent the Glovers were undone once again on the counter.

The excellent Haines deservedly claimed her hat-trick and put the match beyond doubt on the hour mark.

Bonnie Horwood did hit the bar late on with a vicious shot from just outside the box but it wasn’t to be and it capped off a disappointing afternoon for the home side.
