DORCHESTER Town have signed attacking midfielder Marcus Daws on a permanent basis.

Daws, 20, was on Cherries' books last summer and spent time on loan at Poole Town, generating six goals from 41 appearances.

Capped at under-21 level for Northern Ireland, Daws also won the Dorset Senior Cup title, playing his part in the 4-0 win over Weymouth in the final.

Premier League side Luton Town came calling for the then 19-year-old, but after finding his game-time limited with the Hatters, he has joined Dorchester.

Daws is expected to hunt a return to professional football but Dorchester will have his services before any such move potentially arrives.

An added bonus for the Magpies is Daws’ relationship with current boss Tom Killick, who managed the exciting prospect at Poole last season.

Killick told Dorchester’s media team: "I am very pleased to announce the signing of Marcus Daws who is a player I know well from my time at Poole.

"Marcus was previously at AFC Bournemouth and most recently at Luton Town. Understandably, Marcus wants to get back to full-time football and therefore we don’t know how long he will be with us for, but I feel while we have him he can be a great help to us given our current situation.

"I am grateful to Marcus for choosing our club over others at our level and above, and I hope everyone at the club makes him very welcome."

Daws could make his Magpies debut at Harrow Borough on Saturday (3pm).
