Hive Beach


Hive Beach is a long, coarse sandy beach overlooked by cliffs and farmland.

Where is it? Off the B3157 (Common Lane), just east of Burton Bradstock. Take Beach Road and the car park is directly ahead.

Best features: The beach is very clean.

Local facilities & shops: The Hive café/restaurant right on the beach.

Great for kids? The water is clean for swimming, but beware of strong tides and currents and of being cut off by tides.

How far are the loos? Next to the café.

Parking: Pay-and-display parking in summer, free out of season.

Public transport: The X35 bus service runs through Burton Bradstock from Weymouth and Bridport five times a day and the 110 service runs every Wednesday and Friday. The beach is a short walk from the village.

How about pets? Dogs are banned from the beach between May and October.

Bridport Museum Bridport’s unique history, from rope making to togas. Open Mon-Sat, April to October, 10am-5pm. Accompanied children free. 01308 422116.

Bridport Leisure Centre Two swimming pools, poolside café, tennis courts and a whole range of children’s activities. 01308 427464.
