A SUMMER fete in aid of Forest Holme hospice is taking place later this month.

Residents and staff at The Lindsay Bupa Care Home in Poole are inviting people to join them for their charity summer fête from 2pm on Thursday, August 31.

There will be a host of attractions for all the family to enjoy including a range of stalls, live entertainment and refreshments.

As part of the event, the residents have nominated the home manager, Claudia Carvell, to step up to the plate and complete an 8-gallon ice bucket challenge.

The home, in Lindsay Road, is hoping to raise at least £500 for the hospice and a giant totaliser in the shape of a thermometer has been put up in the home’s reception to keep track of donations.

Home manager Claudia Carvell said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together and we hope they will join us for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon to raise money for such a good cause. The Forest Holme Hospice provides support primarily for adults with advanced and progressive illnesses and their staff work tirelessly across homes like ours, in hospital and in the hospice itself to give patients the care they deserve. We hope our donations will go some way to improving the lives of some of these people.”
