THE travellers who moved onto Hengistbury Head last week were still on the site yesterday.

Bournemouth council has already issued parking enforcement tickets on the small group, who pulled their vehicles into the turning circle on Broadway, close to the visitor centre last Tuesday.

As of yesterday the travellers had moved from the turning circle to park on the road opposite the entrance to the car park.

Now the council says it is going to court tomorrow to obtain a possession order if the travellers have not moved from the site beforehand.

It follows a number of complaints from visitors to the beauty spot during the weekend over the amount of rubbish left near the site.

This included used nappies as well as food and drink wrappers.

Meanwhile, travellers remain in Poole at Turlin Moor recreation ground and a second group of travellers have moved on to Kingland Road car park after the first group left on Friday.

The new encampment includes four caravans and associated vehicles.
