DORCHESTER Town assistant-manager Trevor Senior believes three points at fellow strugglers Frome Town carried more importance than a “stylish” win as the Magpies defeated the Robins 1-0 at Badgers Hill.

Such a precious victory could be pivotal for Dorchester come the end of the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South season and their winning goal was all of Ben Seymour’s making.

On loan from Exeter City, the striker registered his sixth goal in seven games having earned a penalty following Cameron Murray’s sniping run and pass.

Senior took satisfaction from the three points, which elevate Dorchester to 18th having been mired in the relegation zone prior to kick-off.

He told Echosport: “The first half was fairly non-descript. Both teams cancelled each other out. There was no quality and it didn’t flow at all.

“To come in 0-0 we were quite happy. I don’t think Kingsley Latham had a shot to save. As a spectacle, it wasn’t great.

“We knew that we needed to be better going forward and second half we created a few chances and looked a lot better going forward.”

He added: “That was the main thing, the three points and the clean sheet were more important than a stylish win.

“Supporters there watching would probably say the same, especially given the position that we were in.

“Cam picked up the ball just over the halfway line and went past two or three midfield players and defenders, slipped in Ben whose first touch took it across the defender and he couldn’t do much about it.

“He was just about to pull the trigger and he got brought down for the penalty.

“There was a little bit of a delay but he kept his cool and put it in the top corner, so it was a great finish. That’s six in seven now.

“We had other chances to increase the lead, which would have made it a lot more comfortable.

“We got down the right, it spilled to Harry Kite and he put it past the top corner of the post.”
