BOSCOMBE Pier was closed temporarily by police due to a 'concern for welfare' incident.
At around 11.20am, police were called following concern for a man's welfare.
A search was carried out of the Boscombe area, and officers found the man on the pier.
Members of the public were told to leave the area while the incident was dealt with.
A lifeboat crew was called out to help officers.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said the man was "taken to a place of safety" shortly before midday and "given the appropriate care".
