SWANAGE T&H 2

BRIDPORT RESERVES 2

GOALS from Josh Hunter and Dan Baggs saw Bridport Reserves claim a 2-2 draw at Swanage Town and Herston in the Dorset Premier League.

In the Bees’ last away game of the season, with eight home games to come, the first half was a scrappy affair, with chances for both teams.

Hunter, Riley Weedon and Robin Jones all had chances in the first period but could not take them, while at the other end Bridport goalkeeper Billy Fleet had to save a good effort with his feet when the Swans were through on goal.

The first half ended in a 0-0 stalemate, but the drama soon picked up.

The Swans were the first to strike, when a ball across the six yard box was accidentally turned in by Bridport’s Jaydon Scadding.

The Bees equalised straight away, when a corner from Ryan Leader was met with a Baggs’ header to send the ball into the top corner.

Bridport went 2-1 up when after a scramble the ball fell to Hunter who made no mistake.

However, the Swans hit back when Joe Clark ran through and took a shot which had a wicked deflection which beat Fleet.

A long-range effort was then denied by Fleet as the two sides held each other to a draw.

Bridport Reserves boss Shaun Annetts said: “In seasons gone past getting a 2-2 draw at Swanage would have been a very good result, but Swanage are not as strong as they once were, there is no question about that.

“I felt that it was another opportunity missed to have gone on and got three points.

“Nevertheless a point, I am a little disappointed and I am sure the players are, but it wasn’t a loss.”
