ANTONIO Diaz has hailed the work of Dorchester Town boss Callum Brooks, after the Magpies have made a storming start to the off season.

Dorchester have secured 16 players so far, including Diaz, and also featuring additions such as Dan Strugnell from Havant & Waterlooville, Charlie Davis and Tom Bath.

Diaz said: “Cal has got a good squad in, he has brought in some really good players, people like Charlie (Davis) coming back.

“We have got Dan (Strugnell) coming down from Havant which adds a great bit of experience for me.

“We have got a striker which is brilliant and the lads that have stayed I think things are looking well at the club at the moment. It is a really good, positive vibe and that is what you want really.

“You want to be a part of that.

Diaz added: “It is a good little mixture, and hopefully we get a good pre-season, we gel as a team and we can start the season well.

“So that is the aim.”

Diaz’s stay was announced on May 24, and admits it is nice to have it sorted so early on.

Diaz said: “We have been speaking since the season finished, it is good to get things done, it clears your mind and then you can get ready for next season, get fit and be ready.”

When asked about how it has been in the squad since the arrival of Brooks, Diaz hailed the positivity going around.

Diaz said: “There is a lot of positivity going around, Cal has told us what he wants, he speaks to all of the lads a lot.

“He is quite open with us, gets on well and the training has been really good.

“I think the performances have been a lot better and hopefully next season, if we are consistent, we can have a good year.”
