TOM Prodomo says Weymouth are not in the sixth tier to make up the numbers, as he looks ahead to the Terras’ return to the National League South.

The Terras secured promotion at their second attempt since Mark Molesley took over as Weymouth boss, but assistant-manager Prodomo does not see the sixth tier as “the final point”.

Prodomo, speaking about the promotion, told Echosport: “Obviously the first feeling is immense excitement, I think the whole club is looking forward to the challenges that the National League South is going to bring.

“It is a step the club has been wanting to make for a long time.

“At this early stage we are not there to make up the numbers, the objective is to move the club forward and the first stage of that was to reach the National League South. We certainly don’t see it as being the final point or our biggest achievement so (there is) a lot more hard work to come.”

Prodomo says the club are not letting the mood become too self-congratulatory, and reiterated that their definition of successful is not just reaching the sixth tier.

Prodomo, when asked if they are letting the mood slip, said: “No absolutely not, I think that can always be a danger.

“I think when we came into the football club we said the objective wasn’t just to be here, it was to be successful and our definition of successful wasn’t just reaching the National League South.

“We want to go up, give a good account of ourselves and be as competitive as we can be as quickly as we can be and in order to do that, that means we need to have a positive pre-season, get some good sessions in and get ourselves going again ahead of a tough challenge.”

Discussing pre-season tests Prodomo added: “We are really pleased with the programme of games that we have put together and we are excited to get going.”
