BOURNEMOUTH is one of the UK’s most popular staycation destinations this summer.
The town has taken ninth place in the annual Travelodge holiday Index.
According to the findings, Brexit uncertainty means more of us are choosing to holiday at home this year, giving the UK economy a £40bn boost.
This summer, 69 per cent of Britons said they would be spending their annual holiday in the UK, which is up from 57 per cent in 2018.
Cornwall has been named the UK’s top holiday destination for the second year running, followed by Blackpool, Devon and London.
The Lake District, Brighton, Bridlington and Bath also featured in the top 10 along with North Wales.
Bournemouth has moved up one place after taking the 10th spot in the list in 2018.
Shakila Ahmed, spokesperson for Travelodge, said: “Our annual holiday index reveals that we have become a mighty Staycation Nation and are doing our bit for the economy.”
