PORTLAND’S Jack Carter sealed his third straight victory since turning pro, with a 40-37 points victory over Paul Cummings at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth.

On his last trip to Bournemouth, Cummings had beaten Carter’s stablemate Jake Best, but Carter did not let him leave with a victory this time around.

Carter got off to a flying start, making an impact in the first of four rounds with a flurry of punches.

Cummings absorbed the punches however, but Carter got the best of him in the first three rounds, before a tied affair in the fourth sealed the victory for Carter.

Carter told Echosport: “It was a really good fight. I can feel myself improving every time now. Just moving on to bigger and better things.

“It builds confidence, it is brilliant.

“I was absolutely buzzing, it was amazing, the atmosphere was absolutely electric, a lot of people showed from Weymouth and Portland.

“It was really, really good.”

Carter was well-supported in his second fight at Bournemouth since turning professional, with people from the Portland Amateur Boxing Club coming down to support him, as well as others from the area.

It follows up victories against Victor Edagha in Yeovil, and over Cristian Hoskins Gomez in his first bout at Bournemouth.
