HUNDREDS of people turned up a week early for Bournemouth's Friday night fireworks after the date was wrongly advertised on some websites.

Bournemouth Tourism moved quickly to tell people the correct dates after becoming aware of the problem.

Just before 8pm last night Love Bournemouth - the official Twitter account of Bournemouth Tourism - tweeted: "Important notice. We have been made aware that the wrong date has been publicised for our fab Friday Fireworks. They start next Fri 2 Aug @ 10pm & run every Fri for the rest of the summer."

Several websites listing things to do for visitors to Bournemouth stated that Friday July 26 was the first date for the Bournemouth fireworks.

Members of the public vented their fury on Twitter.

One said: "An absolute shambles - loads on the cliff top" and another said: "Shambolic. Hundreds of people on the pier. We booked a table at Neo so we could see them and saw nothing."

The Bournemouth Friday Fireworks will run on August 2, 9, 16 and 23 with further fireworks on Friday and Saturday August 30 and 31 as part of the Bournemouth Air Festival's Night Air entertainment.
