NORTH DEVON II 377-7 (20pts) beat UPLYME & LYME REGIS 110 (5pts) by 267 runs

UPLYME & Lyme Regis mathematically sealed promotion to Devon League D Division East despite a harrowing 267-run pasting at North Devon Seconds.

Uplyme went into the contest 40 points ahead of fourth-placed Topsham St James with 40 to play for and, barring a scratched game, knew they would be promoted in third place.

However, Uplyme had difficulty raising a side for the North Devon clash, missing star all-rounder Steve Batey and only naming nine players on their teamsheet – but managing to avoid a points deduction.

With two extra gaps in the field, North Devon scored handsomely throughout as Josh Atkinson (79), Reuben Windley (62) and captain Jonny Green (51) all hit half-centuries to register a monster 377-7.

Opener Tyler Wellman (2-47) was the pick of the away bowlers, while Ewan Pedder (1-95) was expensive off his nine overs.

In reply, only eight Uplyme players batted as Charlie Moss (36) top scored with his side being dismissed for 110.

Uplyme round off their successful season at home to Topsham on Saturday (1.30pm).
