REPAIRS are under way after beach huts were damaged by vandals in Christchurch.
Wooden panels were ripped from the sides of the huts at Gundimore beach, between Mudeford Quay and Friar's Cliff.
The damage was discovered on Monday morning and is believed to have occurred overnight on Sunday December 1.
Ward councillor and mayor Lesley Dedman who lives nearby said: "It’s a real shame that some people think this is a sort of entertainment for themselves. It’s a shame and will cost money to fix. It’s all rather pointless."
Beach hut owner Brian Mitchell said: "We have had the beach hut for about three years and we never really thought about vandalism - we were more worried about flooding. They haven't taken anything."
BCP Council has been informed of the damage.
