A PEDESTRIAN level crossing will be open late into the night this weekend according to the council despite signs saying it would be closed being in place all week.
Concerned residents in Wareham contacted the Daily Echo after spotting notices at the controversial crossing, which said it would only operating from 6am to 6pm this weekend.
Sunday afternoon and evening sees the popular Wareham Christmas Celebration take place. The event is extremely popular and the community voiced frustration that the crossing was going to be closed.
However, a Dorset Council spokeswoman told the Daily Echo that STM Group, who staff the crossing, confirmed the route will be open from 6am to 1am.
The council said an officer had been sent to remove the incorrect signs yesterday afternoon to avoid further confusion
