WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley has credited midfield maestro Andy Robinson with bringing “so much to the table” for the Terras.

Robinson has endured a testing time at Weymouth after missing four months of the season with a complicated ankle injury.

Former Southampton, Bolton and Havant man Robinson was injured by a poor tackle in the 4-1 win over St Albans City in October.

Weymouth were forced into seeking medical advice for the Bournemouth-born midfielder, eventually opting for surgery.

Following the operation, Robinson quickly returned to fitness and scored what could prove to be Weymouth’s final goal of the season – an 89th-minute clincher in the 2-0 win over Slough.

Speaking to Echosport, Molesley described Robinson as a “great professional” for his desire to make a full recovery from his injury.

He said: “Andy was our big summer signing, started the season so well and showed everything he’s about.

“He’s another one who’s been on the back of another poor tackle that went unpunished and it cost him four months of the season.

“For us, when you sign a big player and Andy’s bringing so much to the table, we’ve missed him.

“He’s worked so hard to come back. He’s a great professional, a great lad and we’ve been reintroducing him slowly and building him back up because he’s so important.

“We’ve got to make sure we get him fully fit. The way he’s applied himself, that goal was duly deserved – well taken, great delivery from Ollie (Harfield).

“We needed that second goal because Slough’s threat never goes away. They can attack you in a range of ways.

“Set-pieces are dangerous with long throws and corners. We needed that cushion.”
