WEYMOUTH teenage powerlifting sensation Adam Saunders sent records tumbling at the Amateur British Powerlifting competition in Eastbourne.

Saunders, 15, set new British records in the 75kg weight class for 15-16 year-olds across the squat, bench press and deadlift, lifting 145kg, 70kg and 155kg respectively, for a gigantic record total of 370kg.

Weymouth’s Saunders has now qualified for the BodyPower British Championships Expo at the NEC and could also represent the GB team at the European Championships later this year.

Saunders has worked hard leading up to the event with his coach Luke Tolman a two-time IPF and EPF Bench World Record Holder.

Tolman also holds the record of 93kg for the biggest bench ever done in the world by a junior, the all-time world record and is a four-time British champion, complete with over 30 British records, including an all-time British record.

Saunders is now training for 10 weeks with Tolman in preparation for the BodyPower Expo where he is hoping to beat his current record of 370kg total.

Outside of competition, Saunders is following his dream in personal training, enrolling at Weymouth College this September to begin his personal instructors course.

Tolman is confident that Saunders will do well and progress in powerlifting as he is already a good weight and size for his age and will continue to excel.

Saunders is committed and focused with his training and diet program and bigger achievements are on the horizon for the young athlete.
