A DAZZLING Christmas lights display at a house on Shakespeare Road has raised over £600 for charity thanks to donations from visitors.

Karl Hamlet, 53, a garage maintenance and MOT assistant, adorned his home in Christmas lights to spread Christmas cheer and raise money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Karl’s display attracted visitors from people all over the county, as well as people from Ringwood, Christchurch and St Catherine's Hill.

He said: “We have raised £632.26, whereas last year we raised £160. We did not expect this response. Some visitors were putting £20 notes in the pot during the day, let alone in the evening when the lights were on.

“The Air Ambulance can’t go out and fundraise due to the restrictions, so that’s the hardest part for them at the moment.

"When people walked past you could see their excitement by the looks on their faces, they loved it. I do this to see the joy on people’s faces. It is especially for kids."
